Check Out This Featured Book- Trans and Gender Diverse Library Workers

In celebration of Transgender Awareness Week, we'd like to feature the book, Trans and Gender Diverse Library Workers -- a book entirely written and edited by trans and gender diverse people involved in the field.

In celebration of Transgender Awareness Week, we’d like to feature the book, Trans and Gender Diverse Library Workers — a book entirely written and edited by trans and gender diverse people involved in the field: its fifty-seven authors include workers from academic and public libraries, special collections and archives, and LIS students. While not intended to be a definitive guide to trans and gender diverse experiences in libraries, the book features a broad range of writing – some creative, some encouraging, and others, deeply honest and emotional in scope. The intention of the book is to begin a conversation, and provide opportunities for trans and gender diverse voices in libraries to be seen, and considered.

One of Colby’s own librarians, Max Bowman, has a chapter featured in the book — the chapter is available in Colby Libraries’ digital repository. The link to Max’s chapter, My Name is Max, is available in our bio.

You can also find the book available in Colby’s collection, here.
