Colby Justice Think Tank
Tuesday, November 28th, 4:15 - 6:00 pm, in the Ostrove Auditorium. Reception to follow.
Come join the first of its kind – The Colby College Justice Think Tank that includes 10 currently and formerly incarcerated Fellows who are funded by the National Alliance to conduct research of their design, supported by Colby College faculty and staff.
The Think Tank is working on three research areas: mapping the criminal legal system in Maine to identify points where restorative diversion should be introduced; proposing revisions to certain parts of the Maine Criminal Code to enhance restorative rather than punitive outcomes; and creating a template for a restorative and supported reentry process.
The Fellows will be present in person and on zoom to share their research and methodology. This is the first time currently and recently incarcerated people in Maine have worked side by side to bring the issues that matter to them, as well as recommended, to a national stage.
