Self-care is about more than bubble baths. Colby students, staff and faculty are some of the brightest, hardworking patrons any library could ask for–and we’re here to help you find a way to slow down and find the thing that sparks joy in you.  Turning your attention, even for a few minutes a day, to something that makes you feel wonder can lead to marvelous outcomes.

So, what helps you relax, makes you feel awe or wonder?  Whether you are looking for images of botanicals, cooking stories and recipes or abstract dance, the library has you covered.  Imagination and inspiration are at your fingertips!  Flip through decades of the Vogue and Jet magazine archives; watch a cult classic on Kanopy; listen to Kate Bush, in 1978, describing what it means to be famous; or read a digitized copy of The history of Pompey the little: or, the life and adventures of a lap-dog (or learn how to draw 25 different breeds). Read about the history of Magic Shows, recipes for strawberries, or, this wouldn’t be a library post without mentioning cats–take a look at The Cat: A Natural and Cultural History of Cats to get your fill of these magical companions. So, please, come check out the library–and if you’re not sure where to start, reach out to us–we’re here for you!
