New titles are added to the Miller and Bixler libraries throughout the year–music and fine arts are housed in Bixler, while the remaining subjects are housed in Miller. The libraries follow the LC Classification system, and offer materials representing all of the majors and programs of the college.
In Miller, new books purchased within the academic year are placed in continuous shelving at the back of the main floor of the Miller library. Starting from left to right, the year-long display offers the patron an opportunity to browse our newest additions.
Displays are created seasonally at both Bixler and Miller; some recent displays include celebrations for Black History Month, Hispanic History Month, National Poetry Month, and Pride Month. We are always looking for collaborators across the campus, and are proud to feature books specially curated by our faculty.
Colby College is privileged to have so many luminaries among our faculty. We try our best to collect every monograph written by faculty members during their time at Colby, making the Authors section one of the most diverse in thought and discipline. It is truly a microcosm of the scholarship community that Colby hopes to foster for many decades to come! As always, let us know if you have any questions or don’t see something in the collection–we are always happy to collaborate and get feedback!
